Custom Built in Bookcases

c    Here is an example of our Custom work potential. There was an office with limited space that had two entries, a single door and a double door. The client wanted a book case in the office and a custom closet in the room through the double doors.   We were able to achieve both by building a custom bookcase in the threshold of the double doors that backed up to our closet system behind it in the next room....  We enjoy challenges and are happy to work with our clients to create innovative solutions.

TRANSITION ZONES

It provides a convenient place for keys, mail, charging stations, shoes and other items that can create clutter in the home. Picture how these solutions can bring a sense of order to your mudroom, garage or entryway.

A boot bench situated near the door to the garage provides a handy place to park your hats, coats, dog leash, and bags. Unique colors, durable hardware, and cool silver accents make the space as inviting as the rest of your home.

garage planning tips

The garage is a hidden gem of bonus space that can easily be made into social space. Transforming your garage not only helps you stay organized, but it also creates another usable room for hobbies, hosting parties, or playtime for kids of all ages. Follow these expert tips for planning the best looking garage on the block.

ORG garage driftwood, entire space
One garage can support a dozen duties. The secret to accommodating all your needs is to establish zones, designating areas for each activity.
1. Transition zone - the perfect space to put down shopping bags while opening the door, hang jackets, or take off shoes while sitting on a bench. Choose open or closed storage with hooks, hangers, and shelves that adjust easily.
2. Need it now zone - quick, easy access to frequently used items such as dog food, soft drinks, canned goods or extra bulk-pantry items.
3. Recycling center - reach-in storage bins let you conceal clutter and help keep items sorted from the convenience of your doorstep.
4. Passion center - your place to escape and work on what you love most: gardening, woodworking, car tinkering, or craft building. Include a counter top made of solid ash as a primary work surface, and locking cabinets for storing chemicals or sharp tools.
ORG garage planning 7 steps
5. Large item storage - higher elevation storage fills the space all the way to the ceiling with seldom-used large items such as coolers, camping gear, and holiday decorations. Stacker cabinets store special use servers, dishes, and small appliances, freeing up space in the kitchen.
6. Activity area - the ideal home for all your active gear: rackets, lacrosse sticks, skis, snowboards, baseball bats, bikes, and kids' toys.
7. Long, tall, thin storage - just right storage for awkward seasonal supplies and yard tools near the garage door so they are handy to get to. Rakes, shovels, clippers, and other tools hang on adjustable hooks behind cabinets or on a wall organizer.

GARAGES

Hardworking and multipurpose, the garage is an extension of the home, a transition place to the great outdoors, and oh yeah, a place to park the car. It can also become a domestic dumping ground. With these simple tips, you can transform an untidy garage into an organized, efficient and enjoyable space.
ORG garden garage center

set-up a space to escape
Designate a space for a passion station and make this the heart of your hobby area. In this Eco-nize gardening center, the work surface is kept clear by storing small tools and supplies on slatted walls. Hooks, racks and baskets of different sizes hold just about everything and rearrange with a snap. Deep, beech wood drawers stow gloves and gardening gear.

consider these tips for tackling the garage

  • Keep awkward seasonal tools nearby. Rakes, shovels, folding chairs- hang or hook these often used items on the walls nearest the garage door to lessen the likelihood that you'll ding your cars by dragging things along the length of your stalls.
  • Layer items by hazard and by height. Store children's items close to the ground, with things you'll need to share at mid-level. Stow "adult" items-chemicals, breakables, or sharp tools-overhead and behind lockable cabinet doors if necessary.
  • Designate a space for smooth transitions. Typically with one free hand as you enter/ leave your home, easy access to everyday items is essential. Use hooks for hanging coats and keys, pull-out baskets to see what you have, and surfaces such as adjustable shelves for setting shoes or groceries.
  • Dedicate a day to divide and conquer clutter. Park curbside so you can move all garage contents to the driveway. Then as a family effort, divide items by zones: indoor-outdoor transition, household overflow, large/long/long term, everyday yard gear, and hobbies.

GARAGE MAKEOVER TIPS

Your home is your haven. Does that tranquility begin the moment you open the garage door or does the mess add to your stress? Don't let a disorderly garage alter your positive energy. Transform this unruly space into your favorite place with these clever storage tips.

REMOVE THE EXTRAS

The first step to clearing the clutter is to decided what you want to keep and how much of it to put in storage. Then get rid of the items you are not using which are taking up valuable space in the garage. Ask yourself, "can it be sold at a garage sale, donated, recycled or trashed?"

KEEP ITEMS ELEVATED

Garages tend to get damp and dirty easily, so storing items up and off the floor can keep them dry and protected from this tough environment. Hanging cabinets allow for easy sweeping and cleaning underneath, while full back panels help reduce the collection of dust and dirt inside.

DESIGNATE A DROP ZONE

Use a storage bench or counter as a place to prop groceries while unlocking the door. A bench also serves as a handy perch for pulling on shoes. Hooks and baskets keep everyday items at the ready: dog leash, jackets, keys, and backpacks.

UTILIZE EVERY SQUARE INCH

Filling the full height of your wall with tall storage cabinets maximizes the available space. Seldom-used, bulky items such as seasonal decorations, coolers, and camping supplies can be stowed up high and out of the way on sturdy adjustable shelves.

A CLEAN PLACE FOR EVERYTHING

Your stuff stays concealed behind closed doors but what keep it clean are the features inside. Baskets and drawers fully extend so it's simple to put away sports equipment, kids' toys, tools, gloves and more. Bright white cabinet interior makes it easier to see and find what you need in a jiffy.

MAKE IT WORK WITH A WALL SYSTEM
Tight areas, typically the sides adjacent to the cars, are space-challenged so a slat wall system or shallow storage works well here. You can hang hoses, garden tools, rakes, brooms or other tall, slender items in this area. Snap and lock racks, hooks and baskets can be easily moved for rearranging your garage gear.

FOUR EASY STEPS TO ORGANZIE YOUR CLOSETS

Take inventory: Use a checklist to think about the items that need to be stored or removed. Ask yourself:
How frequently is it used?
How many items need to be accommodated?
Is there a more appropriate place for it?
Is it time to dispose of it?

Remove the extras. Reduce visual clutter and gain more space by removing items you rarely or never wear because they don't fit, aren't comfortable, or are out of style. Sort them in four boxes: belongs elsewhere; give away or sell; not ready to get rid of, and trash. Date the not ready to get rid of box and look through it a few months to determine if the clothes still should be saved.

Group like items together - Shirts or blouses all in one area, skirts or pants in another. Use double-hung racks, one at waist height and one at eye level, to separate attire and maximize hanging space. Having designated areas for your items means you will always know where to put them away and where to find them the next time.

Keep objects close at hand if they are worn often. Save time looking for your favorite clothes and accessories by putting them in a place that's easy to reach. Designate your top shelf for storing items used infrequently.

GARAGE ORGANIZING TIPS

Not just a place to park a car, the garage is an extension of the home - a back-door pantry for bulky items, a spot to store muddy shoes and coats, and an escape place to garden or tinker with tools. It can also become a habitat for collecting clutter. As the family's main passage to the home, shouldn't it be as clean and orderly as your front entrance?

FOUR EASY organizing ideas to make the most of your garage this summer

Keep items off the ground. Spare your floor from pileups and keep your belongings clean and dry by storing them up and off the ground. Slatwall system with adjustable hooks, racks and baskets provides plenty of flexibility to add and rearrange. Choose cabinets with feet that adjust to accommodate uneven floors.

Make it easy to go green. Situate a space right outside the door to store recyclables, returnables, and reusable grocery bags. In a convenient location they'll be easy to access and easier to remember to take with you on the next trip to the store.

Keep all your sun essentials in one spot and get to the pool and beach sooner. Locate baskets, shelves and hooks at kid-height for storing balls, buckets, flip flops and fold-up chairs. Show young children where things go with pictures and word labels for fast and easy clean-up.

Keep the dirt outside and spend less time inside cleaning. Set up a shoe storage rack and practice the habit of shedding shoes before entering your home. Place a rug or scraper outside the door to cut the dirt tracked inside. Store sweatshirts in the garage to grab and gather for a cool summer evening of stargazing.

Office Organizing Tips

The second most used area in the house next to the kitchen, the office is a hub of household activity - home management tasks, kid's school stuff, and take-home work from your day job. It can also become reminiscent of your college dorm. Don't let clutter condemn your office. With these ideas, you can turn an overrun office into an organized, productive and peaceful place for working, web surfing, and budget planning.

Manage the details of your busy life at home or at work - from daily paperwork to annual plans and records. This artfully crafted space in cherry wood veneer signals success but knows how to get down to business. Drawer and door options conceal and reveal, while shelves display pieces that inspire.

Why crowd into a workspace built for one? Make room for multitasking: homework and bill-paying, web-shopping and budget planning. With cabinets and shelves, walls become well-organized storage for books, binders, albums, crafts and more. The large worksurface supports your family's online and on-paper activities.

Consider these tips for an organized office:

Designate your primary work zone a sacred space. Clutter can dull your focus and wrinkle your brow. Keep only your frequently used supplies on the desktop. You'll be surprised how a clean desk policy can de-stress even bill-paying.

Make room for what you're working on right now. At an arm's length, stow pens, stapler, clips, and the few references you use daily so you won't have to get up to rummage for them when you're on a roll.

Devote shelf space for inspirational display. Whether it's family photos, travel memorabilia or your kid's latest art project, plan on a specific place for special items that bring a smile to your day.

Prepare a pleasing visual aid to help keep you on task. Use a chalk or marker board to jot down your running list of to-dos, your best ideas, upcoming events, and reminders to other family members.

Set up spaces to suit your work style. In a ready-access area designated for items used frequently, clip or prop up pieces you need now to get the job done. In an archival space use file cabinets or deep drawers to file product warranties, old tax returns, and financial folders.

Kids' Room Organizing Tips

New Years resoloutions bring with them a need to change out the closets. It's a good thing Eco-nize products adjust to grow as your child grows. It's so simple to add and rearrange as your youngster's interests and size evolves from toddler to teen.

This crisp, clean white closet in popular bead board maximizes space, and organizes outfits neatly. A wall-hanging system makes way for easy cleaning, and the hutch with deep drawers bring order to oodles of items - replacing a bulky dresser. Two rods replace three when toddlers grow.

Get your teen organized from wardrobe to workspace. A lifetime of creativity starts at this simple desk fit for homework, web-surfing or artistic endeavor. Our wall system, along with a selection of accessories, places prized possessions within eyeshot and arm's reach.

Consider these tips for controlling kid clutter

Just as youngsters take baby steps to learn how to walk, getting their room de-cluttered and cleaned also takes steps. You don't have to be the cleaning fairy, magically whisking it all away. Just follow these simple tips for keeping their room tidy.

Take a baby step approach to de-clutter. First, skim away trash. Then, hamper dirty laundry. Move on to big stuff and fill in with parts and pieces. Store items in bins, boxes, and baskets labeled appropriately. Wire baskets make it easy to see and retrieve what's inside avoiding the temptation to toss it all out.

Show kids where things go with picture and word labels. Art Supplies. Books. Blocks. Games. Movies. Puzzles. While you build good habits, you can help kids make meaningful connections between words, illustrations and actual objects.

Make it easy to pick up and put away school supplies and clothes by lowering hooks, bars and shelves. Stepstools can help, but for safety and ease, lower is better. Double up on clothing bars-one low and within your child's reach, the other higher for special clothes requiring your help.

Let them express without the mess. Designate shelves, tack boards or other special areas for artistic display and A plus school projects-giving your child an outlet for personal expression and a sense of responsibility for the room.

Create a comfortable study space. Situate desk and chair heights so that your knees, elbows and hips relax at right angles while seated at the keyboard or writing area. To comfort a growing child, choose an adjustable chair, and add a footstool when needed.
