CLOSET DESIGN

When designing a closet there are a couple of steps that one must take in the design process. It is best first to survey all of the clothes and 'stuff' that will go into the new closet. Sometimes it is wishful thinking what you can get in but we always tell our clients that the closet can certainly be maximized but it is not a magic lamp that will expand the closet in size :-)

We typically start by inserting a nice drawer system in a central location and working a way out. Aesthetics are central to the design and then functionality follows closely behind. After all it is always a person's dream to have a nice walk in or reach in closet. The addition of some glass doors above a closet hutch unit is always nice and some crown molding to finish it off nicely. We finished a beautiful closet with these design parameters in a Fairfax Station Home a few weeks ago and the client was ecstatic. The flow and symmetry of the closet is also important which automatically invokes a calmness which we could all do with about off in this day and age.
